VS-9814 Petroleum Colormeter is manufactured by Weshine Electric Company according to SH/T 0168 standard. Suitable for determining the color of various lubricating oil, kerosene, diesel oil, petroleum wax and other petroleum products.

 

Working principle

VS-9814 Petroleum Colormeter is illuminated by a 100W  incandescent lamp and observed simultaneously with an optical

eyepiece both a sample and a standard colormeter of any color. It has two illuminated surfaces of equal size and shape, the illuminated surface through the standard colorimeter on the right and the illuminated surface through the sample on the left. The two lighting faces are distributed on either side of the vertical center line, and the distance between the closest parts of the horizontal direction is not less than 2 degrees and not more than 3.6 degrees to the observer's eye. The diameter of each illuminated surface is at least 2.2 degrees around the circumference of the viewing Angle, and the illuminated surface can be

extended to any size and shape, as long as there are no two points of light in the field of view separated by more than 10 degrees from the viewing Angle
 

Preparatory Work

1.  Liquid petroleum products such as lubricating oil, pour the sample into the sample container to a depth of more than 50 mm, and observe the color. If the sample is not clear, the sample can be heated to more than 6ºC above the turbidity point or until the turbidity disappears, and then the color is measured at the temperature. If the color of the sample is darker than standard No. 8, 15 samples (by volume) are mixed with 85 volumes of thinner and the color of the mixture is determined.

2. Petroleum waxes include soft waxes where the sample is heated to 11-17ºC above the wax melting point and its colour is determined at this temperature. If the color of the sample is darker than No.8, 15 parts of the molten sample (by volume) are mixed with 85 parts of the diluent at the same temperature, and the color of the mixture at this temperature is determined.
